Biography

Melik is the founder of AMROTS and a senior network architect with 15 years of hands-on networking experience and 20 years working with Linux systems. He began his career as a Linux systems engineer and open-source developer before transitioning into networking — a background that gives him a uniquely deep, full-stack perspective on modern infrastructure.

Melik has worked across virtually every major routing, switching, and firewall platform in the industry. He started his networking journey on Cisco IOS Catalyst switches and has since worked extensively across the full spectrum of enterprise, carrier, metro, and internet backbone environments. Today he works predominantly on Juniper JunOS — across the MX, PTX, and QFX platforms — engineering some of the most demanding network infrastructures in the region.

His primary focus is internet backbone engineering, with deep expertise in BGP, MPLS, EVPN-VXLAN, Segment Routing, network architecture design, capacity planning, availability, and redundancy. He currently manages five ASNs on behalf of his clients — a responsibility that demands the highest levels of precision, reliability, and operational discipline.

Achievements

Melik’s technical specialisms span the full network engineering lifecycle — from greenfield architecture design to brownfield migrations and ongoing managed operations. His vendor experience covers Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, and more, and his open-source background means he brings a level of systems-level depth that few pure networking engineers can match.

In founding AMROTS in 2024, Melik set out to build the kind of network engineering company he always wished existed — one where senior engineers work directly with clients, advice is always honest and vendor-neutral, and every network is built to last.

Beyond the Terminal

Outside of work, Melik is most at home in the Armenian mountains and countryside — hiking, swimming, and offroading through some of the most spectacular landscapes the region has to offer. A genuine love of the outdoors shapes how he approaches his work: methodically, patiently, and always with an eye on the horizon.

He is an avid journaler and amateur writer — a habit that has sharpened the clarity and precision he brings to technical documentation and client communication alike. Most recently, Melik has developed a deep interest in HAM radio and wireless communication technologies, exploring the intersection of radio engineering and the networking principles he has spent a career mastering. It’s the kind of curiosity that never really switches off — and it’s exactly what makes him the engineer he is.
